settling in...

Oh my goodness...three weeks have gone by so veryvery quickly and blog posts have not been as frequent as hoped. Those pictures promised two weeks ago are just now getting up!

The perfection of the farming lifestyle still remains. The happiness that I have been experiencing has only grown more. I love working outside all day long and coming in to eat a small dinner maybe read a little bit and then go straight to
bed because of the hard day of work. We have been making so much progress on the farm and I learn more and more each day!

Some things we have done: more seeding of course, direct seeding in the fields (turnips, beets, radishes, spinach, arugula, carrots etc.), a lot of potting up (this is when we take plant in a small pot and put it in a bigger pot so root systems can get more extensive before they go out into the field), transplanting into the fields (broccoli, kale, lettuce, mustard greens, tatsoi, baby bac choi, swiss chard, kohlrabi, etc.), covering the beds with a polyester fabric which protects from frost and bugs (after some flea beetles put holes in a lot of our babies), tractor training was great and I now know how to drive two of the three tractors that they have, fertigation (a foliar, or liquid, fertilizer made purely of fish...showers are a must after this activity), hoeing the garlic and beets, transplanting our tomatoes into the greenhouse, laying down more irrigation, feeding and training the new livestock guardian named Kaiser, and many many more tasks which seem never ending, but also always a learning experience.

My love affair with the pigs continues...I bring them their food and water every morning with Sabrina and rub their ever growing bellies.

Putting up purlins on the new greenhouse!!

Fishing Spot! This is the spot where Sabrina caught a 6-inch trout that we happily pan fried and ate...as a snack:)

My first three weeks have been jam packed with fun and excited and a lovely amount of work. I am probably the happiest that I have ever been and the healthiest too. Please continue to pray for me and inquire whether by comment or e-mail (tassien4@gmail.com) or phone!

love you all
Noah
